Beaches of Cres Island
The biggest attractions of the island are certainly its long natural pebble beaches, mostly located along the west coast of the island. The most popular beaches, such as the beaches near Cres and other places on the island, are easily accessible. Other beaches can be reached through narrow and steep paths descending from the slopes above the sea. Most attractive beaches are Sv. Blaž, Mali bok, Plave grote and Lubenička plaža. Along the entire coastline of the island, there are also many small, remote bays, accessible only from the sea. They attract mainly adventurers and seekers of peaceful rest, away from the hustle and bustle of larger beaches, but also away from their comfort and services.
Exploring and discovering the island from the sea is a special experience. Due to its varied relief, rising steeply from the sea, the island deserves respect. It is like a guard protecting the Bay of Kvarner from intruders. Island’s robustness is softened by the slopesovergrown by Mediterranean vegetation and by beautiful pebble beaches that invite visitors to bath in crystal clear waters.
The modern marina that lies in the Gulf of Cres, offers to motor and sailing boat skippers all that is necessary for a free enjoyment of islands charms. Here they willalso find a safe shelter against every bad weather or wind. Sailing along the island’s coast, full of bays and beaches, and around smaller islands, provides a truly intimate experience of the sea.
