Andria Linardić museum

Martinšćica is the second largest settlement on the island. Its name comes from the mediaeval church of St Martin, its patron saint. Next to it there is the monastery of St Jerome, and Kaštel, the 17th-century house of the Cres patrician Sforza, around which the present-day Martinšćica has evolved. In Martinšćica, you can visit the museum "Andrija Linardić" dedicated to the pioneers of the production of essential oil from sage, immortelle and laurel - father and son Andrija Linardić – who have founded an essential oil factory in Martinšćica in 1903. They were the first in the world, back in 1908, to distill essential oil from immortelle, and they worked with the largest pharmaceutical companies of that time from Europe and America.
